Shooting a promotional video for Alcobre was a window into a company that carries decades of Portuguese industrial history — and is now writing a new chapter with a very different energy, one that comes from the ambition and scale of its new Chinese ownership.
Alcobre is the oldest electric cable factory in Portugal, specialising in the manufacture of low voltage metallic cables in aluminium and copper, and now part of the Chinese group Hengtong. With a newly expanded facility and another extension already in the pipeline, the growth is tangible — a Portuguese factory moving at a pace that feels entirely new.
