Rosa is a short film inspired by my grandmother Guida, mostly shot in her actual hometown and the places of her daily life. It tells the story of a typical Portuguese elderly woman, at peace with her solitary life in the village of S. Pedro da Cova — and of her 70th birthday, lovingly prepared by her daughter and granddaughters.
Rosa was produced with the co-production of the Pedro Cabeleira and participation of the actresses Arlete de Sousa and Maria Gil. It was a finalist of the "Concurso Nacional de Jovens Criadores 2021" and selected to attend several festivals, such as Duemila 30 Milan and Festival del Cinema di Cefalù. It was also a quarter-finalist at the WideScreen Film & Music Video Festival (Toronto) and twice selected to attend the Lift-off Filmmaker Sessions. It was also part of the "DNCH Exposition" at Palácio das Artes, Porto.
